The Burrow - muggleloverWelcome to chamberofsecrets.com. This is a site for all the Harry Potter freaks (and also for some perfectly sane people just intrested in hp) out there to spend their time doing what they love to do. There will be a subject every now and then to introduce new aspects of the phenomenna, "Old" featured subjects will be "disposed" into a tab of their own by the navigation bar (except if they're biographies or pictures, then they will stay where they were)... I really appreciate a comment good or bad so if there's anything on your mind about hp or my site write it down by the comments section on the bottom of each page and i will reply as soon as i can. I really hope you will enjoy this hp fan-site and contribute to it through the comments and tell about it to other fans, and you can apply to be a writer, that would give you the privilage of choosing topics, adding news, writing bios, finding cool videos and photos, expanding the site, sharing your views and helping chamberofsecrets.com become a bigger better site!!!
Now its your chance to apply!!!!

*Spoilers are not available at the moment, beacause ms. Rowling recently made it very clear that she does not want those who have grown up reading Harry Potter to know everything beforehand. I will unlock the page for them as soon as the book is released.

New on this site- Scroll down for birthdays of the characters, cast and crew.

Today's Headlines

Harry Potter Addictive???

The magic spell cast by Harry Potter on its young as well as old fans is similar to the addiction that drugs or cigarettes inflict on people, according to a leading psychologist. Jeffrey Rudski has claimed that many of the boy wizard's readers are suffering from withdrawal in just the way that drug addicts do.

After studying 4,000 Potter fans, Rudski concluded that one in 10 of the boy wizard's fans were suffering withdrawal symptoms, such as depression and loss of appetite, after JK Rowling's final tale, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, was published. A further 20 per cent admitted being on the verge of addiction to Rowling's creation.

He also found that some of the fans polled had been spending as much as four hours a day on Potter activities. "I feel like someone close to me has died," the Mirror quoted one fan, as saying. "Addiction to a drug is no different to an addiction to Harry Potter," said Rudski. Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final book, was published last summer.

Radcliffe taking Equus to Broadway
The Burrow - muggleloverDaniel Radcliffe is no stranger to baring it all, but the next time he does it, it will be on Broadway. The actor, known for playing Harry Potter on the big screen, is starring in "Equus" for New York audiences next fall.
Producer David Pugh and director Thea Sharrock told London's Daily Mail that after months of negotiation, a Broadway production will start rehearsing in August, with performances to begin in September. There's no word yet on which theater will house the show or how long the stint will last, a rep for the New York production told MTV News.
Radcliffe gave his final London performance in June, and ever since, there's been an online frenzy of fans wondering when the play would open Stateside. In August, Radcliffe told MTV News that the then-proposed production would include himself and Richard Griffiths, who plays Uncle Vernon in the "Harry Potter" movies and also co-starred with Radcliffe in the play's West End run in London, "and however many other castmembers the unions will allow."
"I'm excited," Radcliffe said. "Terrified, but excited."

Bonaham-Carter Back for Half Blood Prince
Helena Bonham Carter will be among the cast of the sixth Harry Potter film 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'. The Independent reports that the actress has won plaudits for her portrayal of villain Bellatrix Lestrange. Shooting on 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' is due to begin in two months; Bonham Carter's publicist said she was not due back on set until the spring.

Daniel Thrilled with the ending of Deathly Hallows
Daniel Radcliffe is getting ready to film Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, but he was more interested in the seventh and final book than the next screenplay. Looking ahead to what awaited him at the end of the series, Radcliffe was excited to film the final scenes, two movies from now.The Burrow - mugglelover

SPOILER
"In terms of the ending of the book, I was thrilled," said Radcliffe. "I was very, very pleased because I basically get the best of both worlds. I get the scene of my demise and also I get to live on after that, which is any actors' dream. You get to die and then you get more screen time. It's fantastic."

Though J.K. Rowling is the ultimate author of Harry Potter, Radcliffe still felt personal about his contributions to the character. "I'm not going to take this into too pretentious a route but there's a quote from Chekhov when he wrote to the [love of his life] and he was with her when he died. He addresses a letter to her and he says, 'Hello, the last page of my life.' Which seemed very appropriate to me reading this book, because he has been such a part of my life now. I've been with him through all my teen years, and I was suddenly aware that wow, this is the last time I will take a journey with this character. It was quite a special moment."

Then reality set in. "I was thinking, 'How are we going to make it into a movie?' It's going to be tough, but that's why someone cleverer than me adapts them. I think if we get it right, which I'm confident we will, it should be amazing."

Katie's got STYLE

The Burrow - muggleloverAS CHO CHANG, she captured the heart of Harry Potter after beating 4,000 other hopefuls to the prestigious role.
As Katie Leung, she is an aspiring Scottish actress who is being courted by some of the world's biggest fashion houses.
Now the 20-year-old from Motherwell is in line for new acclaim: as the most stylish Scotswoman of 2007.
But if she wants to follow in the footsteps of model Lauren Tempany and jazz singer Nikki King (the 2005 and 2006 winners), Leung will have to outshine a list of formidable competitors. They include Ugly Betty star Ashley Jensen and actress Laura Fraser as well as Hannah McGill, director of the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and artist Gay Grossart.
The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony in Glasgow on October 26. Scotland on Sunday has been given an exclusive preview of the nominations and can also reveal that the shortlist was selected by a panel headed by the Australian supermodel Elle McPherson.

New From J.K?
J.K Rowling might write an eighth Harry Potter-related book, it would be a kind of an encyclypedia with bits of information not yet published in the previous books. The money from the book would go to charity.

Jo Coming to Canada
Tickets for J.K. Rowling's only Canadian public appearance this year were offered to her fans online yesterday and within two minutes of doing so, Rowling's Canadian co-publisher, Vancouver-based Raincoast Books, was reporting it had received more than 50 applications from fans across the country. The Burrow - muggleloverRowling will be visiting Toronto's Winter Garden Theatre the morning of Oct. 23 as part of the annual International Festival of Authors. Tickets to the 950-seat venue are free, which means tickets are being made available through a series of random draws organized by Raincoast and the Ontario Library Association, working in association with other library systems across the country. It will be the second visit by the Harry Potter creator to Toronto in seven years. The last time she was here, on Oct. 25, 2000, she drew more than 20,000 fans to the SkyDome (now Rogers Centre), some of whom paid as much as $234 for what was then billed as "the largest literary reading ever."This time around, Rowling, 41, "wanted something smaller, more intimate and personal," a Raincoast spokesman said. The latest event, which will start at 10 a.m. ET, will feature Rowling reading from the seventh and final instalment in the Potter saga, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, followed by a question-and-answer session, then an autographing of copies of Deathly Hallows that will be presented to participants as they enter the theatre. Raincoast published the novel in association with Bloomsbury U.K. on July 21 and it is estimated that 500,000 hardcover copies have been sold in Canada alone.

Slughorn Revealed
The Burrow - muggleloverOscar winning star Jim Broadbent has signed on to star in the sixth Harry Potter flick, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

The Brit star will be seen in the role of retired potion's master Horace Slughorn who is lured back to the school by Hogwarts headmaster Professor Dumbledore.

Deathly Hallows, an instant hit as expected

As well as being popular among children learning English, the untranslated Harry Potters have seen huge demand from impatient fans who want the books as soon as they come out.
"Half of Harry Potter sales were export sales," said Bloomsbury chairman Nigel Newton. "Readers don't want to wait while it gets translated." Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has smashed records in theThe Burrow - mugglelover UK with sales now nearing 4m, according to industry monitoring service Nielsen BookScan. Overseas demand is also stronger than ever. Bloomsbury revealed yesterday that export sales for Harry Potter 7 were already a third higher than for Harry Potter 6, with particularly strong demand from Germany, China, Japan, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Brazil. The success of JK Rowling's books abroad has given Bloomsbury confidence that its star performer will generate revenues for a while to come. The City has been anxious about life after Harry for the publisher, which has been reflected in its subdued share price. At yesterday's first-half results, Mr Newton stressed upcoming books by other authors and new online projects meant there were many reasons to be cheerful. He also insisted that the Harry Potter era is nowhere near over. "The main thing to remember is that Harry Potter will be a big book for many years," he said, comparing the series with the Chronicles of Narnia and Winnie the Pooh. "The world loves British children's classics and they last for decades."

Emma in Ballet Shoes

Emma Watson has been filming for a role as a schoolgirl in new BBC One drama Ballet Shoes.
The 17-year-old Harry Potter star plays orphan Pauline Fossil in the adaptation of the 1936 kids' book. There's not too much change for Emma from her well-known role as Hermione Granger - she's wearing school uniform! The programme is going to be shown at Christmas time and tells the story of three orphans who are adopted by their uncle, who's a wacky explorer.
The three girls all have their own dreams. Pauline (Emma Watson) longs to be an actress, Petrova (Yasmin Paige) yearns to fly aircraft and Posy (Lucy Boynton) seems born to be a ballerina. But when Great Uncle Matthew disappears, the money runs out - and the girls have a struggle on their hands. The Burrow - mugglelover The book Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfeild was first published in September 1936.

Emma Updated Her Blog

Emma Watson has updated her blog, stating that she is finished filming Ballet Shoes. She said they worked real hard six days a week, and she became very close with the cast and crew. She said it was hard to say good-bye, and that they were all wonderful people. The film will be part of BBC's Christmas line-up, so will air some time in December.

She also said that she heard people were upset that they hadn't heard a reply from her when they sent her letters. She says she hopes to let everyone know what's going on with her via her website.
